Walking on the beach can be great exercise. It can burn many calories and strengthen your muscles. Here are 8 helpful tips to maximize your workout and minimize injuries.
Walking On the Beach
There is something so unbelievably nourishing about walking down the beach on a summer day. With a warm breeze flowing through your hair, the clean salty smell in the air, and the comforting squishy sand oozing between your toes, there is nothing else like beach walking. Tossled, messy hair and no make-up is the trend, and of course clothing is optional (any swimsuit will do - no one cares where you bought it). Where else can you completely just let yourself go and not feel self-conscious, but instead feel absolutely free and content?
Besides the great feelings a walk on the beach evokes, it is also beneficial to your health as well. For instance, beach walking burns twice as many calories as jogging the same distance on another surface. Believe me, after a couple of days of walking a mile or more, you will feel it. Surprisingly, your muscles will ache, and you will know that beach walking is the reason.

Exercising On the Beach
The sites and sounds on the beach are very enjoyable to most people. They are soothing and calming, providing an escape for the senses from all the usual unwanted stimuli that surrounds at work and even at home. The sound of the waves crashing, birds chirruping, and laughter are welcoming.
Visually, we are surrounded as well. From the numerous pelicans flying overhead, to the groups of dolphins seen playfully frolicking in the waves, nature is all around you. I was lucky enough to find a living starfish recently, which I made sure to return to the sea after careful examination. What a treat! Hearing the waves crash on the shore completes this relaxing atmosphere.
