Creating Outdoor Spaces You Love
Outside Spaces
Many people stay indoors because they have comfortable spaces inside and nowhere they want to be outside. The same can be accomplished outside if you choose the right space, appropriate furniture, and add your own personal touch. Being outside can quickly become your first choice, when the space outside is made to suit you. In this article you will find easy-to-follow tips for creating an outside space you love by choosing the right space, selecting appropriate furniture to suit your needs, adding your own personal touch with accessories and laying the ground work.
Avoiding the Heat
No one likes to sit outside and sweat. That is why it is important to choose an outdoor space that is shaded naturally by trees, or you can provide your own shade with an arbor or umbrella. Arbors and umbrellas can be purchased at hardware stores such as Lowes and Home Depot, or at K-mart and Walmart, where they will be less expensive. If your space is near an electrical outlet, you can always plug in a fan and provide your own cool breeze. This may be necessary depending upon your heat tolerance level.
Outdoor Furniture
Depending on what you desire, your space may be just for you, for a couple of people, or for a group of people. If your space is just for you, adirondack chair makes a great place to relax. The anti-gravity chairs are incredibly comfortable for a couple of people to enjoy. These come in extra-large sizes if you want plenty of space. A table with multiple chairs can provide a group of people with comfortable seating. Keep a tarp handy for covering when rain is expected. I keep one in an outdoor storage bin, so that cushions can be covered quickly and conveniently.

Ground Work
One of the most important things about your space, is the ground beneath you. If your space is on a deck, then you may want to place an outdoor carpet beneath your feet for comfort, as the deck can become exceedingly hot during summer months. If your space is under trees, pebble gravel makes a beautiful and comfortable space, and it is inexpensive and easy to install. Simply remove an inch of soil, lay landscape fabric, pour a layer of sand and top with a layer of pebble gravel. Small pebble gravel feels smooth and cool on the feet. Edging the space with large rocks gives a natural and pleasing feel to the space.
Creating Outdoor Spaces
Adding Accessories and Your Own Personal Touch
One of my favorite things to do is add my own personal touch to my outdoor spaces. You can do this by selecting pillows and cushions in fabrics you love. Placing scented candles and solar lights outside can add interest to your space too. For comfort, you may want to have citronella candles, keeping mosquitoes and other pests away. These can be purchased in a variety of forms from tealights to torches. Adding eye-catching flower pots to your space or planting plants that attract hummingbirds and butterflies can take your outdoor space to a new level. Butterfly bushes can provide privacy as they grown large and leafy stems, while producing pretty purple flowers that attract butterflies.
